The Mother Load

While Ryan was out of town last weekend, I had Brooklyn take some maternity pictures before I feel too ginormous to want them. There's not too much to update about this pregnancy besides the extreme crankiness, which my whole family will probably attest to.

This little lady is a mover. Every morning and night it's like a dance fest inside her cocoon. The ultrasound technician was even amazed at how active she was. A little taste of what is to come, perhaps?

I've felt pretty good (besides the crankiness), although it has been a major struggle for me to get my fanny back in the habit of working out at the gym. I've had some bouts of ligament pain, but I've been able to keep that at bay for now. I still haven't had too much swelling at this point, however, I have been begging for foot rubs, which helps a lot!

Everything else has been pretty hunky dory, and I'm grateful that Ryan has put up with my mood swings and grumpy disposition.

Thanks to Brooklyn for being willing to take pictures! I never did this with my other two pregnancies, so it'll be fun to have it documented. :))

I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home!

Ryan went on a trip up to Spokane for a wedding last Thursday and within the first three hours of him being gone, Norah and I had already broken into the ice cream. I won't try and estimate how many cones I went through for the week he was gone.

I was near tears several times, but only actually cried twice, so I'd say that's a pretty good accomplishment. ;) My sister, Brooklyn, stayed with us while Ryan was gone and even took some time off from work to help out. I think if she hadn't been there, I would have exclusively eaten ice cream and cried a whole lot more.

Norah was pretty happy to tell everyone she could that her daddy got to ride in a big airplane. We finally got to pick him up last night! The girls sure love their daddy!

But I think I was happiest of all! I've already made him promise to never leave us again because I sure do like having him home!

Two in a Tub

To commemorate Summer coming to a close, we did a little outside spa/bathtub photo shoot!
As soon as Norah saw the bubbles in the bath, she stripped down faster than a newly wed couple. ;) ahem.

Lucy, on the other hand, wasn't as keen as she normally is about baths.

I don't know what she was complaining about, I mean, we spent a good 10 minutes bringing bucket after bucket of warm water with lots of bubbles.

"What am I doing here? This isn't fun!"

"Get me outta here!"

Norah loved the tub so much that she posed and smiled as much as we asked her to.

And some of the poses were her idea!

I love her brown eyes in this picture.

I just loved all of these shots of her that I couldn't choose only a couple. Can you blame me?

Goodbye sweaty hot summer! Now onto spiced apples, pumpkin patches, Halloween preparations, and many more photos of these cute cute baby girls!

Lucy Lemon Photo Shoot

My good friend, Katie, over at Lucy Lemon Shop started her own children's clothing company and asked me to take pictures showcasing her newest dress collection. Norah and Lucy got to be little models as well.

Here are some of my favorites:

Instant best friends! I wish I could make friends this easily!

This other little girl was such a cute model. She did everything we asked her to do and was more than happy to smile for the camera.

We made the mistake of mentioning cookies and so Norah's attention was focused completely on when she would get one and how many she could eat. Haha

It had rained that day before the photo shoot and so because I was all over the grass during the session, I was completely soaked from the knees on down.

The dresses are all so adorable, and I love how comfortable they are for babies. Even if you don't buy a dress, you should go admire Katie's work!

I tried to get some pictures of just Norah and Lucy together since I already had my camera out, but they all looked pretty similar to this one below. Haha

Boo to The Flu

I think one struggle a lot of parents have is getting their kids to eat enough fruits and vegetables. Lucy is a great eater, for the most part, but I struggle getting Norah to eat veggies unless it's from a pouch, and 92¢ really adds up after buying approximately 786 pouches from Walmart. So I started making my own pureed veggies for both of the girls. I usually make a big batch and freeze part of the containers until we go through the ones in the fridge. Well, I had thawed out some broccoli and carrot puree for Lucy to eat, but it had been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days and it was looking a little questionable to me. I smelled it and decided it was fine, and Lucy ate the whole container without any complaints so I gave myself a pat on the back for getting her to eat some vegetables. ha.
ANYWAY, the next day Lucy snubbed most food that was offered to her and was fussy/clingy all day. So I started suspecting that perhaps the broccoli was bad after all. But now that we've had several vomit/diarrhea episodes since then, I just blame it on the stomach flu.

Every morning since Sunday, we've gone into her room to find (dried) throw up covering her crib and yet she has been perfectly content to wait for us to come get her. Despite how awful she must feel, she has still had such a sweet demeanor.

Happily playing in the bath for clean up.

Whether it actually was the baby food that triggered this or not, I think I'll err on the side of safety next time the broccoli looks suspicious.

All Booked Up

I am regularly woken in the morning with a book being rammed into my face and a request for a snuggling reading session.
These girls LOVE to read. Norah especially. She goes through phases of favorite books, but currently it has been the Treasury of Curious George and we've already read the entire thing approximately 167 times. Her favorite story is The Birthday Surprise (obviously)!

I love going through the children's book sections at DI or Savers and we have found some pretty good books for so cheap! We've got a pretty good collection started, although these girls usually bring me the same stack of books to read over and over again. I could (and do) read all day, and Norah would never grow tired of it. Lucy has recently started enjoying sitting and reading in my lap as well. It's the cutest thing when she sees me pulling out a book and then backs up into my lap to sit down. She has particularly grown fond of The Ear Book.

She wants me to read it over and over again. This is her pouty face when I finish reading it and she wants me to read it again. I think she loves this book the most because I do special sound effects. haha

So content. I love that these girls love reading and I am excited for the day when we can read fun chapter books together!

90th Percentile

It took us 2 months to get in with a pediatrician after moving here, but we really like our new doctor so it was worth the wait. Lucy's new stats:

weight: 24 lbs. 1 oz--90th percentile
height: 30.75 inches--83rd percentile

Lucy started taking steps just about a week before her first birthday (though I thought for sure she would be walking sooner than that). It was only the last couple of weeks or so that she has really been devoted to only walking and she has become quite proficient!

It's been funny to see her little personality shining through. If she is fed and changed then she is a very happy girl and so smiley. People comment a lot about how social she is, although we are working on her learning to be soft with other kids...and us! We are convinced that she was a crab in another life because she is constantly pinching our neck/face meat (and it hurts!)

Whenever I pull out my phone or camera to take a picture, she will say "cheese!" It's the cutest thing. She can also wave and say "hi" and "bye". When she's finished with her bottle or eating then she will say "done". Those are pretty much her only consistent words.

This sweet girl brings so much joy into our house and it's so fun to see her getting older and more interested in playing with Norah.
We sure love our Lucy girl.
