The 12 Pictures of Christmas

I wanted to do something special for Christmas day, so, this whole month, we've been taking pictures! I think I'm the only one who isn't burned out yet:) I compiled all of these holiday photos to create The 12 Pictures of Christmas! I may have taken some liberties with the rhythm and rhymes, so bear with me. Enjoy:))

(Sung to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas, of course!)

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
A first Christmas for sweet lil' Lucy

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Santa & a reindeer sleeping

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Jesus as a little baby

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Some delicious frosted sugar cookies!

on the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
This beautiful golden tree!

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
The cutest snowsuit, don't you agree?

on the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Dr. Seuss' Grinch, that's plain to see

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
A chance to sit on Santa's knee

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
A sweet little gingerbread lady

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
This angel in front of our tree

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Two babies as cute as can be!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Matching jammies for our family!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

All is Calm...All is Bright

For our ward's Relief Society Christmas program, I had the pleasure of being asked to play the part of Mary for the vignette that was put together. The woman who was in charge did an incredible job and it was a really spiritual experience for everyone.

Joseph did an absolutely amazing job for his part.

During our practice the day before, we used a baby doll and were planning on using it for the actual performance, but as we walked in to get in place, the director whispered to me that there was actually going to be a live baby Jesus instead. It made all the difference! He was so precious, being just a couple of weeks old.

I was so honored to be a part of this group and study just a little bit about Mary and her admirable situation. It's really amazing how Heavenly Father knows just what you need, even if it's not quite what you expected. And I thought this was the perfect way to usher in the Christmas week!

The Tassle's Worth The Hassle!

Tonight I submitted my final assignment in college.

I didn't think this day would ever come (such a cliche', I know). After my schooling plans didn't work out when we moved from Rexburg I was pretty distraught. But I was very glad that my plans, though altered, still included school and...graduation!

And since we are not going up to Rexburg for the graduation ceremony, I decided to take some pictures of the girls in some BYU-Idaho attire instead. It's a win-win situation here.
They make for some pretty cute BYU-I alumni babies.

Norah wore this same jumper for Ryan's graduation when she was just a wee thing. I had to squeeze Lucy into it since she is a bit older than Norah was at that time. But she looks just as cute!

I am so grateful to be finished with my degree and so so grateful to Ryan for encouraging me and helping me with homework so many times. Since Norah was born, school has been so hard, but I am really glad we persevered so that I could finish!
Congratulations to me! ;))

Three

Today marks three years from the day Ryan and I were sealed for eternity.
I remember feeling fairly nervous the week before our wedding. But when sitting in the temple, just before entering the sealing room, I had never felt so happy and so peaceful in my life.
It was absolutely perfect. :))

In honor of our anniversary, I've added our wedding video done by Jordan Overman at overridefilms.com. But first, Ryan, enjoy a little poem written by yours truly. :))

Though it's been just three years, it feels like much longer.
When we first fell in love, I couldn't imagine it stronger.
For we've gone through so much, you and I, hand in hand.
Some events intended, others unplanned.

I began to compile a list of reasons I love you
But the list grew too long, so here are just a few:

You went out on a limb so that we could meet
Then asked for a kiss as we stood on the street
Or remember that time when you sneezed on my knee?
I knew right then it was you for eternity.

You moved down to utah so we could be close
Then schemed a big plan so that you could propose
The big day then came when we finally wed
How could we know there'd be so much ahead?

That one time I felt so very sick
You stayed home with me and watched a chick flick.....twice
You held my hand tight as I gave birth
And say you don't care about my increase in girth

When I get stuck on homework you always help out
Even though I may fuss and pout
You say 'I love you' and have never missed a day
And I know that's not something every girl can say.

Though dinner may not always be fun to digest
You say through a smile 'this was the best!'
You encourage my goals and indulge my desires
Even though I'm a hopeless crier (but seriously, I need to get ahold of myself).

I'm so very happy to be called your wife
It's been a wonderful three years, here's to the rest of our lives.

"Kissy Kissy Smoochy Smoochy Talkin' Mushy Mushy 'Bout Nothin'"

This weekend, Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary by convincing his cousin, Amy, to come babysit the girls for the night so we could get a hotel in downtown Salt Lake! It was the first time I've been away from Lucy for the night. :'( Teardrop. The good news is that both girls were just angels and even slept in late the next morning!
Ryan and I checked into our hotel, then drove down to the trax station. I only had a $20 bill on me, so we used it to pay for our tickets. We were expecting to receive dollar bills back, but instead were rewarded with $17.50 in dollar coins. Surprise!

We had dinner at a little pizza place, Sicilia Pizza Kitchen, then walked down to temple square and admired the beautiful lights. It was this same spot where Ryan first told me he loved me when we were dating. :))

The temple was absolutely beautiful, and they had the gates open so we could walk right up to it. I love going downtown this time of year and seeing the nativity and the Christus. They even had some new beautiful photographs from the newer church film displayed around the visitor's center.

We had such a fun time getting out and celebrating our marriage! It's always so nice to know that the girls had fun with a babysitter and that they were well taken care of. And since our actual anniversary date isn't until Wednesday, it just means we get to celebrate it twice! ;))

They See Me Rollin'

For the past few months, this girl thought it was really fun to take naps no longer than 30 minutes so she could distract me while I was supposed to be working on homework. She has been sleeping great at night, but naps were quite the struggle.

Just this week, as I was putting her down for a nap, apparently she was still wide awake and decided to do a little experimenting. Rolling onto her tummy is her new favorite activity. Lucky for me, this translates into longer naps!

A soon as I lay her down, she will flip over and be zonked out after playing for a few minutes. Now that school is almost over I can see myself actually squeezing a nap in myself if I need to:))

The only downside to this whole thing is that it has been affecting her night sleep the past couple of days. She will start screaming and crying once she has flipped to her tummy at night.
Go in and rock her for a bit until she calms down.
Put her in the crib on her back.
Immediately she rolls over onto her tummy. Cry!
Start the whole process over again until I give up and put her in the swing.
Then she will wake up early every morning instead of sleep in like a nice girl like she usually does.

At least I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel now. I was beginning to accept that 30 minutes was the only amount of time given to me to have a potty break, shower (yes, I do shower..sometimes), do homework, procrastinate homework by browsing pinterest for way too long, etc. But now I can see that I'll have much more time to do those things, especially the latter as school is quickly coming to an end!!!

Isn't she so considerate? Love this girl. :))

We Are Japanese, If You Please!

One of the great things about Ryan's new job is the fact that it's way closer to us now. He doesn't even have to get on the freeway to get there! This means that the girls and I get the pleasure of going out to lunch with him every so often!! Today, it was sushi. Mmmmm!

Norah ate quite a few rolls and didn't try too hard to pick out anything colored green.
Seaweed is a vegetable, right?? :))

Lucy is really eyeballing those chopsticks!
It was so nice getting out of the house (especially when it is for something besides a trip to Walmart!) and seeing Ryan for lunch!

Thirty Red Toes

Have I mentioned how much I love having girls??
Also, have I mentioned the last time I painted my toenails? Two days before Lucy was born.
I realized that I was very close to giving birth and my toes looked atrocious. Like they had been in a 3 car pileup. So I painted them. It was pretty much the last thing on my 'to do' list before popping out another baby, and I guess it was just what Lucy was holding out for, because she did not want to wait another minute!!
ANYWAY, I decided that having a sliver of nail polish on my big fat toe because it grew out over 5 months was probably not going to be the next fashion trend. So, we all painted our nails!!

I thought the painting portion would be the challenging part. But nooooo. Both girls were just angels (except when Lucy decides to suddenly wiggle like a demon!), but as soon as I pull the camera out, all hell breaks loose. Seriously, who made Norah resent cameras so much??
I did, however, finally convince Norah that it was fun to put her toes up next to
mine and Lucy's while I sneaky sneaky snapped a picture.

Aren't Lucy's little rollie pollies so adorable?? I could just bite them.
And I also wanted to show off my handy work, since it's not easy trying to paint something that suddenly isn't there anymore--wriggly little tot.

Deck The Halls

Last Saturday, before Thanksgiving, I dramatically begged Ryan to get us a Christmas tree before all the crazies snagged them up without giving us a chance. This is the FIRST year we've ever had a tree. I know, we are pretty pathetic. So to make up for our lack of effort (and because we don't have any storage room) we got ourselves a real tree! I don't remember ever buying a real tree growing up, so it was a quite a treat (and a lot more work than we expected)!

When we Ryan carried the tree in from the car, we tried to set it upright on the base while the kiddies were distracted in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, it was slightly too tall.
Fortunately, our kindly neighbors lent us a power saw.
Unfortunately, it didn't work too well.
Fortunately, Ryan is a dear and trekked to the store to buy a hand saw.
UNFORTUNATELY, he had to make another trip to the store because we grossly underestimated how many lights we needed for this eight-footer. What a trooper.

When we finally got the tree up and lights on I decided that we needed some cute homemade ornaments so I whipped out pinterest and went to work. I'm proud to say that there were even a few that I made using my own brain. No copy-catting from me, people. ;) Aren't they all so cuute??
My favorite is the lightbulb santa (and not because I made it up myself. Okay, maybe that is why. heh!).

Our beautiful tree:)) I'm still working on making a tree skirt and a star for the top. I absolutely love having this tree in our home. It makes it feel so much more festive. I could just sit on our couch and stare at it all day, except I have two little creatures that probably wouldn't let me do that.

I spy our very first ornament that someone made from our invitations as a gift for our wedding. I can't remember who it was off the top of my head, but I love it. We be cute. :)

Pretty in Pink, Sweet Through & Through, Our Little Norah is Turning Two!

Today we celebrated Norah's birthday with a "pretty in pink" party! I probably went overboard, but I like doing stuff like this so it was a win win! We hung this wreath on the front door so the guests knew they were about to enter into the presence of a princess. My mom made this adorable scrapbook page with the invitations we sent out.

Brooklyn helped me put everything together by spending the night at our place to finish up baking food and then decorating this morning!

I had a one of Norah's pink tutus and put it around a hat box to display her pictures I took of her for her birthday. The cupcakes sat on a little stand I glued together using clear plates and candlesticks from the dollar store! And the poofy thing was an old craft that I made for Norah's room.

Sparkly cupcakes!

My mom had these cute glass jars she used for my sister, Katelyn's wedding so I borrowed them to put our chocolate covered pretzels in them (which took FOREVER to make, by the way haha).

I used this template for the cake and iced it with extra frosting from the cupcakes.

Posing with her cake. We forgot to light the candle and have her blow it out. We didn't even sing happy birthday to her. Haha oh well.

I admit, I was pretty proud of how it turned out. It was so fun to plan and put all these pink things together while Norah is still too young to possibly oppose pink and girly things. ;)

Ryan's parents came down for the weekend to celebrate with us. It was so fun having them here. Norah is so lucky to have such great grandparents who dote over her. She LOVED the portable chalkboard bag they gave her as her present.

My cousin and her family were living with my parents for a little while until they found a place for themselves. They have a little daughter who is the same age as Norah (which automatically makes them besties) and they are SOOO cute together. This is Norah giving Adalyn a hug after opening their cute gift for her. So sweet:))

There were so many people there who love Norah. I think she felt very special on her day. We have been talking about her birthday party all week!

I love this picture of Norah and my two nieces. They are so sweet with her.

Some of my friends came to the party as well and it was SO fun seeing them and laughing until my stomach hurt (and until I literally lost my voice for probably the rest of the weekend). Love this group of people.

I love this little family of mine and I am so glad that Ryan supports me in planning stuff like this and spending way too much time crafting. We both love our sweet girls, even when they won't smile for pictures! ;)

It was such a fun fun day. So fun that Norah didn't get a chance to take a nap at all. You'd better believe we were trying everything to calm her troubled soul as we drove back home.
Do you wanna listen to The Lollipop song?
NO (tears, tears, cry, cry)
Rockabye Baby?
NOOOO (cryyyy)
The Wheels on The Bus?
NOOOoooo (scream)
Billie Jean??
...........yes.
